Reliance Jio is India's largest telecom operator with over 450 million subscribers. Whether you're on Jio 5G, Jio 4G LTE, or JioFiber broadband, knowing your actual internet speed helps you understand if you're getting the service you're paying for.
For the most accurate results, test at least 3 times and average the results.
| Plan | Expected Download | Expected Upload | Ping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio 5G True 5G | 100–500 Mbps | 50–100 Mbps | 10–30 ms |
| Jio 5G (NSA) | 50–200 Mbps | 20–50 Mbps | 20–40 ms |
| Condition | Download Speed | Upload Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Excellent signal | 20–50 Mbps | 5–15 Mbps |
| Good signal | 10–20 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| Average signal | 3–10 Mbps | 1–3 Mbps |
| Weak signal | Under 3 Mbps | Under 1 Mbps |
| JioFiber Plan | Download Speed | Upload Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze (30 Mbps) | 25–30 Mbps | 25–30 Mbps |
| Silver (100 Mbps) | 90–100 Mbps | 90–100 Mbps |
| Gold (150 Mbps) | 130–150 Mbps | 130–150 Mbps |
| Platinum (300 Mbps) | 250–300 Mbps | 250–300 Mbps |
| Titanium (1 Gbps) | 900+ Mbps | 900+ Mbps |
1. Network congestion Peak hours (7 PM – 11 PM) see the heaviest traffic. If speeds are slow in the evening, try testing again at off-peak hours.
2. FUP (Fair Usage Policy) limit exceeded Jio applies speed reduction after your daily high-speed FUP is used. Check your Jio app under "My Plan" to see remaining high-speed data.
3. Weak signal Move near a window or to an open area. The Jio app shows signal strength — ensure you have at least 3 bars.
4. Network mode settings Go to Settings → Mobile Network → Preferred Network Type and select 5G/4G (recommended) instead of Auto.
1. Router placement Place your JioFiber router in a central location. Walls and furniture block Wi-Fi signals — consider a Wi-Fi extender for large homes.
2. Reboot the router Unplug the JioFiber ONT and router for 30 seconds, then reconnect. This fixes most temporary slowdowns.
3. Check connected devices Too many devices sharing the connection reduces per-device speeds. Disconnect idle devices or upgrade to a higher plan.
4. Wi-Fi band selection Use the 5 GHz band (labeled as "JioFiber_5G" in your network list) for faster speeds when close to the router. Use 2.4 GHz for better range.
The rate at which data travels from the internet to your device. This affects:
Minimum speeds for common uses:
The rate at which your device sends data to the internet. Important for:
JioFiber provides symmetric speeds (same download and upload), which is ideal for work-from-home.
The time in milliseconds (ms) for data to travel from your device to a server and back. Lower is better.
Variation in ping over time. High jitter causes choppy video calls and lag spikes in gaming. Under 10 ms is ideal.
If your speed test results are significantly lower than your plan:
Under TRAI regulations, ISPs in India must deliver at least 80% of the advertised speed during peak hours.
Use InternetSpeedTest.net — it works directly in your mobile browser, no app download needed. Open the site, tap "Start", and get your results in 30 seconds.
A download speed of 15–30 Mbps is good for Jio 4G. If you're consistently getting under 5 Mbps, try the fixes above or contact Jio support.
Wi-Fi introduces overhead. Test via ethernet cable directly from the JioFiber router for the most accurate result. If wired speeds are also low, call Jio support at 1800-896-9999.
Jio applies FUP-based throttling — speeds are reduced after the daily high-speed data limit is reached. This is different from ISP throttling. Unlimited plans with daily 1.5GB–3GB high-speed data will slow to 64 Kbps after the limit.
